MEMS gyro angular rate sensor

Systems, sub-systems and components manufacturers often require customized or specialized components to fulfil a key system function. Tronics Microsystems works with them to develop and manufacture their unique sensor solutions, from transducers to smart sensor components. We develop custom products based either on their own design solutions or on Tronics' product platforms.

Here are some examples of custom sensors that Tronics has co-developed, industrialized and now manufactures for OEMs.

Seismic Transducer for Oil Exploration

Geophones, which are extremely precise seismic sensors, are used to create 3D maps of the underground in order to locate oil deposits. Tronics partners with Sercel, the world leader in seismic oil exploration equipment to deliver extreme performance MEMS accelerometers to perform the sensing. This technology replaces traditional low cost electromagnetic components. Key components features include:

  • 0.1µG resolution
  • DC to 800Hz in closed loop configuration
  • 0.01µG/√Hz noise

Ultra-miniature Capacitive Motion Transducer for Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM)

Patient-motion monitoring in pacemakers provides comfort to the patient through regulated electrical pulses to the heart. Sensitivity, extremely small size and solderability are key requirements of those implanted devices. Tronics answered those requirements by developing and patenting an SMT wafer-level chip-size packaging and high sensitivity, high linearity, over-damped acceleration transducer. Key features are:

  • 0.8 x 2.7 x 3.1 mm3
  • 1mG resolution
  • 1% non linearity FS

High-performance Angular Rate Sensor (gyro) for Multi-Domain Applications

Angular rate sensors are used for a variety of applications ranging from platform stabilization to motion sensing, guidance and navigation. Based on the design of an expert company in navigation, Tronics has developed the specialized technology and vacuum packaging solution for a multi-domain gyro product platform. The platform is now available to OEMs for customization and productization. Typical features include:

  • Customizable range (100°/s and 900°/s for the first realizations)
  • High bias stability: <60°/h for 100°/s range
  • 0.01 °/s/√Hz noise at 40Hz for 100°/s range
